ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sarah Omen is an interdisciplinary environmental artist, primarily working in drawing, painting, printmaking, natural materials, and photography. She does commissioned works in most mediums.

An artist ever since she could hold a crayon, Sarah has always created. She graduated with a BFA in Integrated Studio Arts, in 2010 from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.

Sarah currently does commissioned work, exhibits, and teaches. Her art often conveys a deep passion for environmental conservation through its subject matter or natural materials.

The goal for her work has been to make art that functions as environmental activism so the viewer walks away wanting to instill change in society. Art functioning as an active agent, capable of instigating social change rather than be a product or commodity is her source of inspiration.

As Sarah continues to develop her work, she is shifting in the direction of using recycled and natural materials, as well as community-based participation for environmental conservation.
