PROJECT E.A.R.T.H.:
Environmental
Activism
Reaching
Toward
Humanity

A project where art functions as environmental activism through an exchange of resources from individuals. The participants may take a piece of art away from the exhibit by trading their time for the earth. Those receiving art will also be asked to contribute by writing a brief report for the blog after volunteering.

Objective: To make artwork that functions as environmental activism so the viewer walks away wanting to instill change in their life and society.

Rules:
1. Only one piece per person.
2. Read the artist statement and project description.
3. Perform an act for the earth within one month.
4. Post a brief report of your volunteering on blog.
5. Sign the certificate.

Activities to choose from:
1. Pick up litter for 4 hours.
2. Bike/walk to work/school instead of driving as often as you can.
3. Replace throw-away water bottles or coffee containers with a reusable one.
4. Plant a tree.
5. Replace plastic bags with canvas shopping bags as often as possible.
6. Volunteer at a local organization.
7. Activity of choice (ask first).

Sarah is facilitating an exchange of art for environmental activism from individuals in the community. The viewer may take a piece of art away from the exhibit in exchange for their time volunteering. It is an exchange of energy for the earth's benefit. The message is not being conveyed through the artwork, but rather a motivation for the pieces to function beyond the traditional wall.

The participants receiving art will contribute by writing a brief report for the blog after volunteering. There are certificates for the documentation of the exchange. Once a work of art has been taken away from the collective exhibit, a copy of the certificate will replace it on the wall as a way to document the exchange.
